Virtual Globe 99: Current Speed Not Displayed in Virtual Flights (195726)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Virtual Flights feature of Encarta Virtual Globe 99, the bottom of the screen may be cut off. This behavior may prevent you from being able to see the current speed at which you are travelling.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if your screen resolution is set to 640 x 480 pixels.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:

Increase Screen Resolution

Increase your screen resolution to a setting of 800 x 600 pixels or higher. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Move the Display Area or Screen Area slider to the right until the screen resolution shown underneath the slider is 800 x 600 pixels or higher.
  5. Click OK, and then click OK again.
  6. When you are prompted to keep the new desktop setting, click Yes.
  7. Close Control Panel.

Enable Auto Hide Taskbar Setting

Enable the Auto Hide taskbar setting. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar or Taskbar & Start Menu.
  2. On the Taskbar Options tab, click to select the Auto Hide check box.
  3. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Encarta Virtual Globe 99, version 1.0.
