SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to view your computer's drives or folders using Windows Explorer, you may receive the following error message:
Accessing that resource is not possible because this is a rooted explorer.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you start Windows Explorer by clicking the Advanced button on the Start Menu Programs tab in the Taskbar Properties dialog box. This instance of Windows Explorer cannot be used to view resources on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, open Windows Explorer using a different method. For example, click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
