OL2000: Error Adding Item to Junk E-mail List (195432)

SYMPTOMS

When you add a mail message to the Junk E-mail list in Microsoft Outlook 2000, you receive the following error message:
The operation failed. An object could not be found.

CAUSE

The From field is blank.

The Junk E-mail feature of Outlook gives you the ability to filter out or delete messages based on criteria that you specify.

If you receive a mail message with a blank From field, you will receive an error when you try to add it to the Junk E-mail list.

NOTE: There is no way to filter messages that have a blank From field.


To enable the features of the Junk E-mail list, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Organize, and then click Junk E-mail.

    NOTE: If Organize is not visible, move the pointer over the chevrons at the bottom of the menu and then click Organize when it becomes available.
  2. Set the options for handling Junk E-mail and click Turn On. You can change the font color of the message or move the message to a different folder.
To add a message to the Junk E-mail list, follow these steps:

  1. Click to open the message.
  2. On the Actions menu, point to Junk E-mail and click "Add to Junk Senders list" or "Add to Adult Content Senders List."

  3. Right-click the message.
  4. Point to Junk E-mail and then click "Add to Junk Senders list" or "Add to Adult Content Senders List."
