Shutdown of a Terminal Server from a Client Session Without Reboot Results in Reboot Anyway (195334)

SYMPTOMS

When trying to shut down Windows Terminal Server from a client session without selecting to restart the computer after the shutdown, the Windows Terminal Server restarts anyway.

RESOLUTION

To work around the problem, you can use the Shutdown.exe command-line tool instead to shut down the Windows Terminal Server without restarting.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT Terminal Server Edition version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
