This article was previously published under Q195324 SUMMARY
The Preview Pane function provided by Microsoft Outlook 2000 allows you to
divide your Outlook window into two separate panes. When you select an
item, such as an e-mail message, in the upper pane, you can view its
contents in the lower pane without actually opening the item.
The Outlook Setup program turns the Preview Pane feature on automatically
for the Message view of the Inbox folder. If you wish to use the feature
for other folders, you must enable it for each view within each folder. The Preview Pane, however, is not available in the Outbox.
MORE INFORMATION
To turn the Preview Pane feature on or off for the current folder and view,
click Preview Pane on the View menu.
The information displayed in the Preview Pane varies depending on the item
type and folder view in use. For Message items, it displays the message
header information and the message text. For Note items, it displays the
entire note. For most other items in their default view, it displays the
information in the large message box found in the item.
