OL2000: Reply Ticking Does not Work with HTML or Word (195321)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q195321 SYMPTOMS
When you reply or forward a message with Reply Ticking enabled, the
character you select to prefix each line of text does not appear. Either
a vertical line appears along the left side of the original message, or a
vertical line appears along the left side of the Sender, Date, Recipient,
and Subject information block.
CAUSE
Either the message uses formatting such as HTML that does not support
unique Reply Ticking characters, or you have Microsoft Word set as your
default e-mail editor.
RESOLUTION
If the message format is HTML, there is no workaround.
If you have Word set as your default e-mail editor, close the item and turn
off Word as your default e-mail editor. This will work when replying to
either Microsoft Outlook Rich Text or Plain Text messages.
To turn off Word as your default e-mail editor, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Mail Format tab.
- Click to clear "Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages," and
click OK.
