8BITMIME Check Cannot Be Disabled (195252)

This article was previously published under Q195252 SUMMARY
When a Microsoft Commercial Information Server (MCIS) 2.0 Mail SMTP server
sends mail that includes 8-bit content, it checks to verify that the
receiving server supports the 8-bit-MIME transport extension. If it does
not support this extension, the message is rejected, and a non-delivery
report (NDR) is sent back to the originator.
MCIS 2.0 Mail, supports the 8-bit-MIME extension as described in RFC 1652
"Service Extension for 8-bit-MIME transport." This RFC specifies that when
an SMTP host wants to submit a message with 8-bit content, it should check
for the 8BITMIME keyword in the response to the EHLO command. If this
keyword is not present, the message should be returned to the originator.
In MCIS 2.0 Mail, this check for the 8BITMIME keyword cannot be disabled.
