OL98: Controls Do Not Copy and Paste Correctly in Design Mode (195233)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q195233 SYMPTOMS
After copying and pasting a group of controls, you find that the layout of
the controls may not be preserved and some of the control properties were
not replicated properly.
CAUSE
The controls were on a "containter" control, such as a MultiPage or Frame
control.
RESOLUTION
If you are using a mail or post form and wish to copy the controls from the
Compose page to the Read page, the following workaround will create a Read
page that matches the Compose page.
IMPORTANT: The following steps will discard any customizations you have
made to the Read page of the form.
- Make sure the form is in design mode and that you are on the
Compose page.
- On the Form menu, click to disable Separate Read Layout. When prompted
to discard any changes to the Read page, click Yes.
- On the Form menu, click to enable Separate Read Layout.
If you now click the Form menu and then click Edit Read Page, you will see
that the Read page is now a copy of the Compose page.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 98.
MORE INFORMATION
This problem may not reproduce consistently with a simple custom form, but
complex forms with many controls reproduce this problem consistently. In
some cases after the controls are pasted, they will be bound to different
fields.
