BUG: VI 1.0 Uninstall Removes Forms 2.0 Registry Entries (195185)

SYMPTOMS

After you uninstall or remove Visual InterDev 1.0, Microsoft Forms 2.0 objects are no longer properly registered. When you try to add a Microsoft Forms 2.0 control to a project, the following error appears:
Class not registered.
Looking for object with CLSID: {C62A69F0-16DC-11CE-9E98-00AA00574A4F}
When you pass a Microsoft Forms 2.0 ProgID to the CreateObject() function (for example, Set objForm = CreateObject("Forms.Form.1")), the following error appears:
ActiveX component can't create object.
When you attempt to open an existing project that uses Forms 2.0 controls, you might receive one of the previous errors, or the following error:
Errors occurred during load.
Can't load or unload this object

CAUSE

The Visual InterDev 1.0 uninstall unregisters fm20.dll.

RESOLUTION

After you uninstall Visual InterDev 1.0, locate fm20.dll in the \WINNT\System32 directory. Register it using RegSvr32.exe. For example:
   regsvr32.exe c:\WINNT\System32\fm20.dll
				

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
