OL98: Synchronization Error 80070057 (195079)

After a manual synchronization (point to Synchronize on the Tools menu, and
click All Folders, or This folder), a synchronization log such as the one
below may be saved to your Deleted Items folder:
Subject: Synchronization Log:
10:47:53 Terminated in error
10:47:53 [80070057-501-0-0]
10:47:53 The client operation failed.
10:47:53 Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store
Notice that the subject line has no time or date information, as it
normally does.
CAUSE
The Exchange Server provider was changed to require certain MAPI session
requirements, and Outlook 98 was not adjusted to meet the new session
requirements.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft,
but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to
systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely
affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for
the next Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5 service pack that contains
this fix.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
This issue should only arise if you have added an Outlook 98 hotfix using
Emsabp32.dll (build 2392 or later), Emsmdb32.dll (build 2392 or later),
Emsui32.dll (build 2373 or later) or Mspst32.dll (build 2400 or later). To
see the log file, configure Outlook 98 to save deleted messages on exit,
and synchronize on exit. The next time you logon and perform a
synchronization, the error will occur in the synchronization log.
