In progress status formatting of tasks may not work in Outlook 2002 and in Outlook 2000 (195072)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook 2002 and in Microsoft Outlook 2000, applying a color formatting control to tasks with a status of "in progress" may not change the color of tasks in progress.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the Advanced filtering options to apply to "in progress" items, or other status conditions of tasks. To do this, follow these steps:



To apply color to "in progress" items, or other status conditions of tasks, follow these steps:

  1. On the Task folder's View menu, point to Current View and click Customize Current View.
  2. Click Automatic Formatting and then click Add.
  3. Type a name for this new rule, such as "In Progress" (without the quotation marks).
  4. Click Font, click to select a unique color from the list and click OK.
  5. Click Condition and then click the Advanced tab.
  6. Click Field, point to All Task fields, and click Status.
  7. In the Value list, click to select "in progress," and then click "Add to list." Click OK three times.
All Tasks with a Status of "in progress" should change to the selected color.
