SUMMARY

When you create a Kiosk mode presentation and attempt to play it from the PowerPoint 98 viewer, you may find that the functions for the arrow keys and the space bar on the keyboard will still be available.

It is understood that when you run a PowerPoint presentation in kiosk mode, it will not allow anything but the mouse and the controls on the slides to be available to the user. In kiosk mode the keyboard will normally be disabled with the exception of the ESC key, which allows the users to exit the presentation.

On the PowerPoint 98 Viewer there is a check box that enables password protection on a presentation being run from the viewer called "Password Lock Slide Show". This function is to prevent the presentation from exiting the Slide Show without the use of a password. By enabling this option on the viewer, you will be disabling the arrow and space bar keys. This option was not designed to perform as a kiosk mode; however, it can be used as a workaround to lock a presentation in PowerPoint 98 viewer and using Kiosk settings.
