PRJ98: Incorrect Constraint Set When Entering Timephased Work (194967)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, when you enter work in the Timescale portion of a usage view, an incorrect Start No Earlier Than constraint may be set on the task.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the option Tasks will always honor their constraint dates is not selected, and you manually enter work for a task or assignment in the Timescale portion of a usage view, such as the Task Usage or Resource Usage view.

WORKAROUND

Working Around This Problem

To remove the incorrect constraint from the task, follow these steps:

  1. Select the task with the incorrect constraint.
  2. On the Project menu click Task Information and click the Advanced tab.
  3. On the Constraint Task Type click As Soon As Possible and click Ok.

Preventing This Problem

To prevent this problem from occurring, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options and then click the Schedule tab.
  2. Click to select the Tasks will always honor their constraint dates check box and then click OK.
