PI: Problems printing to Canon MultiFunction Devices or Printers (194879)

When you attempt to print from Microsoft Products listed above to a Canon printer, the printer prints a 1/2 inch colored strip and ejects the sheet. The
printer continues printing 1/2 inch per page, until the print job is
cancelled.
CAUSE
The Canon printer drivers 2.11 and earlier are not fully compatible with
Windows 98
RESOLUTION
Canon has acknowledged this to be a problem. Canon has updated drivers
(version 2.11 or later) available for downloading from the following Canon
