This article was previously published under Q194765
BUG #: 18108 (6.5)
SYMPTOMS
If the year of the system date on a Windows NT computer is set between the
years 2039 and 2079 and you try to create a new task in SQL Enterprise
Manager (SEM), you will receive an unhandled access violation and SQL
Enterprise Manager will be closed. You may also receive a Dr. Watson
message "Sqlew.exe Exeption Access violation." However, SQL Server itself
will still be running.
WORKAROUND
The only workaround at this time is to set the system date so that it does
not fall between the years 2039 and 2079 when creating a task.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 6.5.
