When to Install Service Pack 1 for SBS 4.0 (194577)

SUMMARY

Service Pack 1 for Small Business Server (SBS) was designed to upgrade a server running SBS Version 4.0 to Version 4.0a of SBS. DO NOT apply Service Pack 1 for SBS 4.0 if you are already running SBS 4.0a.

To verify the version of SBS after installation:
  1. Click Start, and then click Manage Server.
  2. On the Online Guide tab, click "About Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server."
  3. In the center of the page, "4.0a" will be displayed if you have 4.0a already on the computer.
To verify the version of SBS prior to installation:

Check for the presence of IE4setup.exe in the \\Ie\I386 directory on Disc 1 or the Readme.doc at the root of Disc 1 for the following text: "Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server version 4.0a"
