This article describes how to set up a multilingual Web so that customers who browse your Web can view your content in their choice of language, such as English, Spanish, or German.

To set up a multilingual web in FrontPage Explorer, follow these steps:
  1. Set up the default home page in the <Root Web>.
  2. Create a subweb for each language you want.
  3. Set the default language property and HTML encoding for each subweb, using the following steps:

    1. On the Tools menu, click Web Settings.
    2. Click the Language tab.
    3. In the Default Web Language drop-down list, select the language you want to use.
    4. In the Default HTML Encoding drop-down list, select the type of HTML encoding you want. Click Apply.
    5. Click OK.
  4. If your FrontPage web is hosted on a supported UNIX web server, you are done. If not, use step 5.
  5. From the FrontPage CD, find the \frontpg\misc directory. Note that there are 5 *.msg files there, one for each language other than English. Add the desired (or all) *.msg file to the <frontpageroot>\version3.0\bin directory for FP98.
