The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 95
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 5.0
This article was previously published under Q193950 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Excel, when you open a file that contains a chart, some or
all of the trendlines on the chart may not be displayed correctly.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the following conditions are true: - Your chart contains a moving average trendline.
-and-
- You set the Period value of the trendline to a value greater than 255.
Moving average trendlines with a Period value greater than 255 will have
this value reduced to 255 or less, when you save and reopen the file
containing the chart.
For example, a moving average trendline with an initial Period value of
365, will have this value reduced to 109 (365-256=109) when you save and
reopen the file. An initial Period value of 256 will be reduced to 0
(zero) when you save and reopen the file.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Excel listed at the beginning of this article.
