SUMMARY

Both Microsoft Picture It! Photo and Microsoft Picture It! allow you to send image files to others over the Internet using non-MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface) aware e-mail programs.

To send image files to others, use the appropriate method for your program.

Microsoft Picture It! Photo 2001

  1. Under Picture Options, click Save & Send, and then click E-mail.
  2. In the Send or Save for E-mail dialog box, select your picture size, and then click Next.
  3. Click Save the picture to e-mail later.
  4. Click Done.
  5. On the Save As task menu, use the following selections:
    • For Step 1, use the default folder or a folder of your choice.

    • For Step 2, use the default JPEG file type.

    • For Step 3, name your image file.

NOTE: The majority of Internet browsers read the JPEG file format. Using this format increases the probability of the recipient being able to open the image file for viewing.

  6. Click Save. You can now send the image file as an attachment to an e-mail message.
NOTE: For assistance on attaching files to an e-mail message, refer to the help file for the e-mail program, written documentation which accompanied the product, or contact the manufacturer directly.

Microsoft Picture It! 2000 or Earlier

  1. On the Workbench tab, click Save & Send, and then click Send or Save for E-mail.
  2. On the Send or Save for E-mail task menu, use the following selections:
    • For Step 1, click the Small (view on screen) option.

    • For Step 2, click the Save the picture to e-mail later option.

NOTE: Using these options will allow your image file to pass through the e-mail servers. Many Internet service providers limit the size of an e-mail message that the server will accept. Larger image files may be automatically returned to you by the server or may not reach the recipient.

  3. Click Done.

  5. Click Save. You can now send the image file as an attachment to an e-mail message.
NOTE: For assistance on attaching files to an e-mail message, refer to the help file for the e-mail program, written documentation which accompanied the product, or contact the manufacturer directly.

MORE INFORMATION

When you click Send or Save for E-mail, Picture It! or Picture It! Photo first saves the file and then calls the MAPISendMail function. If a MAPI-aware e-mail program is installed on your computer, it responds to the call.
