SYMPTOMS
When you start Microsoft Outlook 98 after installing Fax.exe from the
Windows 98 compact disc, you will get the following error message:
Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Mapi32.dll is corrupt or the wrong
version. This could have been caused by installing other messaging
software. Please reinstall Outlook.
Running Outlook Setup to Add New Components does not fix the problem and
generates the following error message:
Outlook is not properly installed on this computer. To correct the
problem, rerun Outlook 98 setup.
If you attempt to start the Fax program you get the following error
message:
An unexpected error has occurred. MAPI was unable to load the
information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure that the service is correctly
installed and configured.
CAUSE
You have installed Awfax.exe from the Windows 98 compact disc, which
installed older versions of MAPI and its associated .dll files.
