XFOR: Service Must be Restarted When Removing Pull Feed Subscriptions (193641)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Commercial Internet System 2.0
This article was previously published under Q193641 SUMMARY
When you create a pull feed in the Microsoft Internet News Service, "*" is
the default subscription, which is a wildcard to download all available
newsgroups on the upstream server. If this global subscription is removed
or modified, the Internet News Service must be restarted. If the Internet
News Service is not started, the service continues to download all
newsgroups, and the subscription information may not take full effect.
MORE INFORMATION
If the "*" subscription, for example, was removed and "comp.*" was added
as an include subscription, the news server would still download "*" or
all the newsgroups until the service was restarted. Only when you restart,
are the "comp.*" groups downloaded.
To gain access to the newsgroup subscriptions, do the following:
In the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) or HTML Administrator, go to
Feeds and get properties on an existing newsfeed. In this window you have
the ability to include or exclude newsgroups.
More information can be found in the online documentation for the
Microsoft Commercial Internet System 2.0 NNTP service.
