OFF97: SR-2 Patch Can't Update Admin Install Without Bookshelf (193565)

When you use the Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2) patch to
update an administrative installation of Microsoft Office 97 SR-1, you may
receive the following error message:
Microsoft Office 97 SR-2
Microsoft Office SR-2 can not locate an installation of Office 97 SR-1
on this machine. If you are running Office 97 SR-2 from CD-ROM, first
install Office 97 SR-1 from the CD-ROM. If you downloaded Office 97
SR-2 from the Web, first install Office 97 SR-1 from http://www.microsoft.com/office/office97/ServiceRelease/sr1/AboutSR1.asp.
NOTE: The URL shown in this error message is incorrect. To obtain
SR-1, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
If you open the log file created by the SR-2 patch, you see text similar to
the following:
Office 97 install type: Admin install
Home Dir: C:\TEMP\IXP000.TMP
Shared Dir: <Path to MSAPPS folder>
Office Dir: <Path to MSOFFICE folder>
The user has chosen <MSOFFICE folder>\Off97Pro.STF to be the stf file
The user has chosen <MSOFFICE folder>\Off97pro.inf to be the inf file
Sr1 is not found in the user's machine
Sr2 patch can not run without sr1 installed
The sr2 patch has failed
CAUSE
This problem may occur if you use the SR-2 patch to update an
administrative installation of Microsoft Office 97 SR-1 without Microsoft
Bookshelf.
RESOLUTION
To upgrade your administrative installation of Microsoft Office 97 SR-1 to
SR-2, you must obtain SR-2 as a Microsoft download.

NOTE: Microsoft Office 97 Service Release CD-ROMs and replacement CD-ROMs are no longer available from Microsoft.
After you download SR-2, remove the administrative
installation of SR-1 from your server by deleting the /MSOffice and /MSApps
folders. Then, use the SR-2 download to create a new administrative installation by running "setup /a".
