- Microsoft Digital Sound System 80 1.0
This article was previously published under Q192941 SYMPTOMS
When you connect the Microsoft Digital Sound System 80 (DSS80) to the
Universal Serial Bus (USB) port on your computer without shutting down
the computer, you may be unable to adjust certain audio settings using
the Equalizer Control utility, and the Balance and Volume sliders and the
Mute check box under Master Out may be unavailable.
You can, however, adjust audio settings using the filter band sliders
in the Equalizer Control window.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the DSS80 is not enumerated properly when you
connect it to the computer.
RESOLUTION
To prevent this issue from occurring, shut down the computer before you
connect the DSS80 to the USB port on the computer.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft Digital
Sound System 80 version 1.0.
MORE INFORMATION
To work around this issue, use the volume and mute buttons on the right
satellite speaker of the DSS80 to adjust these audio settings.
NOTE: The Equalizer Control utility functions only when you play digital
audio over the USB.
