Unable to Open Saved Microsoft Chat Conversation Files (192611)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to open a saved chat conversation file by clicking Open on the File menu, you may be unable to find your saved file.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you saved this file in a format other than the chat file format (.ccc), such as Rich Text Format (.rtf). Microsoft Chat is not able to open files other than .ccc files.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, open the file in a word processing program that is capable of opening .rtf files such as WordPad.
