SYMPTOMS

When you use multiple computers to access the same Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox, conflicting and/or duplicate calendar entries may occur.

RESOLUTION

Choose the appropriate resolution below and apply it to your secondary computer(s).

If You Have Duplicate Appointments

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the E-mail tab.
  3. Click to clear "Process requests and responses on arrival."
  4. Click OK.

Conflicts with Appointments or Meetings with Reminders

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Reminders tab.
  3. Click to clear, Display The Reminder. The Play Reminder Sound option is automatically made unavailable.
  4. Click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

You have multiple computers that, in essence, create duplicate items in their own Primary Offline Calendar and then propagate the duplicate items to the Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox.

A similar occurrence exists with appointments that are in a conflicted state and must be resolved by the user. The reminders display on more than one computer, and when dismissed or postponed, cause two instances of the same appointment, each with their own reminder data. This requires manual reconciliation.

By clearing the options on the less-used of your computers, you eliminate the processing of items or reminders firing, thereby preventing these problems from occurring.
