The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q192415 SYMPTOMS
When you view the contents of a drop-down list box on a Web page, items in
the list may not be displayed in the correct order, and you may receive
the following error message when you attempt to scroll through the list:
Sorry, a system error occurred. "Internet Explorer 4.01" error type 10.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if the drop-down list box contains more than 4096

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) drop-down list box.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, contact the Web page author (or the
administrator of the Web server) and request that the list be split into
two smaller lists each containing 4096 items or less.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet
Explorer 4.01 for Macintosh.
MORE INFORMATION
This problem occurs only with Macintosh-based versions of Internet
Explorer.
