PRJ98: Can't Delete from Database with DeleteFromDatabase Method (192382)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q192382 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you delete a project from a database using
the DeleteFromDatabase method, you may find that your project is not deleted from the database.
NOTE: If the Reserved_Project_ReadOnly field has been edited in the
database and set to 1, you may also receive the following error message:
The project cannot be deleted.
The project cannot be deleted because it is currently open. Close the project, and then try again.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the database has been closed incorrectly in
Microsoft Project 98. For example, Microsoft Project crashes (stops
responding) or power is lost while the database is open. If this happens,
the Reserved_Project_ReadOnly field in the database may not be reset
properly.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, edit the database in a program such as
Microsoft Access. In the Project_Information table of the database, edit
the Reserved_Project_ReadOnly field to be 0 and then save the database.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
For more information on editing your project in a database, please refer to
the Database.wri file that ships with Microsoft Project 98.
