XADM: IIS Crashes with ActiveX Component Using MAPI (192274)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 SP1
This article was previously published under Q192274 SYMPTOMS
When you create an ActiveX in-process (DLL) component using MAPI, and use
it on an Active Server Pages (ASP) with Collaboration Data Objects (CDO),
the Internet Information Server (IIS) may terminate unexpectedly if two or
more sessions are created by different user accounts.
CAUSE
The Emsmdb32.dll file fails to get global instance for the session when in-
process components share the global instance with CDO. This causes the IIS
to close.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, create the ActiveX component as out-of-process
(EXE) or don't use CDO to access Exchange Server.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server
version 5.5. For more information, please see the following article in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

version 5.5.
