SYMPTOMS

Windows 98 Setup may detect that you are using an S3 Virge PCI video adapter, even though you are actually using one of the following video adapters:

  • Diamond Stealth 3D 2000
  • Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 Pro
  • Diamond Stealth 3D 3000 Pro

CAUSE

This issue occurs when Windows 98 Setup detects the S3 Virge chip set on the video adapter.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain the latest video adapter driver from the manufacturer. To obtain the latest driver, please visit the Diamond Multimedia Web site at the following location:

To work around this issue, change to the appropriate video adapter. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display, click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.
  3. Click the Adapter tab, and then click Change.
  4. Click Next, click "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want," and then click Next.
  5. Click Show All Hardware.
  6. In the Manufacturers box, click the manufacturer of your video adapter.
  7. In the Models box, click the appropriate model, and then click Next.
  8. If you receive an Update Driver Warning dialog box, click Yes.
  9. Click Next, click Finish, and then click Yes to restart your computer.
