XL97: Display Becomes Garbled When You Scroll Through Workbook (191960)

SYMPTOMS
When you scroll through a workbook in Microsoft Excel 97, the text in the
workbook becomes garbled and unreadable.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
- The workbook has been converted from a Lotus format (WK4) to Excel 97
format (XLS).
-and-
- You use the Paste functionality within Excel.
-and-
- You scroll through the workbook.
-and-
- You are using a Compaq video driver.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, disable the text display feature of the video
driver. To do this, follow these steps:
- Right-click the desktop and click Properties on the shortcut menu.
- Click the Compaq tab and then click Settings.
- Click the Advanced tab. Click to clear the Text check box.
- Click OK twice. When you are asked to reboot, click Yes.
