SYMPTOMS

If your Toshiba Tecra 750CDT laptop computer goes into Suspend mode while it is in a docking station, you may be unable to resume it.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the docking station contains an ATI video adapter and is configured to use multiple monitors. The Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) bridge in the docking station turns off the power to the ATI video adapter when the laptop computer goes into Suspend mode.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods:

Method 1

Undock the computer, resume it from Standby mode, and then dock it again.

Method 2

Disable Advanced Power Management (APM) support in the docked hardware profile. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click System, and then click the Device Manager tab.
  3. Double-click the System Devices branch to expand it.
  4. Click Advanced Power Management Support, and then click Properties.
  5. Click the General tab, click the Disable In This Hardware Profile check box to clear it, and then click OK.
  6. Click OK, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart your computer.
