IntelliMouse Wheel Button Opens Menu in Altera MaxPlus (191863)

SYMPTOMS

When you press the Microsoft IntelliMouse wheel button while you are using Altera MaxPlus 8.1, the pointer (a single arrow or multiple arrows that point in the directions you are able to pan) and a menu appear on the screen.

Although you can use the IntelliMouse to scroll or pan through the window, the menu remains in a fixed position.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Universal Scrolling feature is not compatible with Altera MaxPlus 8.1.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, add Altera MaxPlus 8.1 to the Exceptions For Universal Scrolling list. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse, and then click the Wheel tab.
  3. In the Universal Scrolling area, click Exceptions.
  4. Click Add, and then locate the executable file for Altera MaxPlus 8.1.
  5. Click this executable file, and then click Open.
  6. Click Close, and then click OK.
  7. Quit Control Panel.
