Err Msg: This Upgrade of IntelliPoint Software Cannot Find... (191709)

SYMPTOMS

When you download the Microsoft IntelliPoint software update from the Microsoft IntelliPoint Web site and then attempt to install it, you may receive the following error message:
This upgrade of IntelliPoint software cannot find IntelliPoint version 1.1 or later on your computer. Please insert the disk for IntelliPoint 1.1 or later into your disk drive, and then click OK, or install IntelliPoint 1.1 or later onto your computer, and then rerun this upgrade software.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:

  • The IntelliPoint software is not currently installed on your computer.
  • The IntelliPoint software was originally installed from an OEM system CD-ROM.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, click OK and then navigate to the folder on the OEM CD-ROM in which the IntelliPoint software installation files are located. Alternatively, you can reinstall the IntelliPoint 1.1 or later software and then install the IntelliPoint 2.2 update.
