SYMPTOMS

After you type your password to log on to America Online using the preview version of the America Online 4.0 software on the Windows 98 CD-ROM, you may receive the following error message:
WAOL caused an invalid page fault in module MSVCRT.DLL at 015f:7800129a

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when the Msvcrt.dll file is the incorrect version.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain the latest version of the America Online 4.0 software from the following America Online Web site:

The error message can occur if you install a program that replaces the Msvcrt.dll file with a later version of the file.

Microsoft only supports locating and starting the America Online Setup program on the Windows 98 CD-ROM. We do not support the installation process, the functionality of the software, or connectivity to America Online using the America Online software included on the Windows 98 CD-ROM or available from America Online.
