Delayed Response to HTTPS Requests When Proxy 2.0 Runs over IIS 4.0 (191414)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0
- Microsoft Internet Information Server 4.0
This article was previously published under Q191414 SYMPTOMS When you connect to a Web server through Proxy Server 2.0
installed on an Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 computer, the response to
HTTPS requests is delayed by about one minute.
NOTE: This behavior is not reproducible when Proxy Server 2.0 is
installed on an IIS 3.0 server. CAUSE Proxy Server makes a call to IIS to close a client
connection. This call returns immediately in the case of IIS 3.0 but takes
about a minute in the case of IIS 4.0. This causes the delay in servicing the
new client requests.
RESOLUTION This problem is resolved in Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0
Service Pack 1 (SP1). For more information about Service Pack 1, please see the
following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 238375 Proxy Server 2.0 Service Pack 1: List of Fixes
NOTE: This behavior can also be caused by files that the latest
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack replaces.
You should reinstall the latest
Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack,
and then install or reinstall Proxy 2.0 SP1. You can then install any hotfixes (such
as the SRP package 299444)
to bring the system back up to date. STATUS Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft
Proxy Server version 2.0.
