OL98: Cc and Subject fields Are Missing, No Body in Office Document (191390)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q191390 SYMPTOMS
The Cc and Subject fields are missing, and in a new Office document, there
is no place to type information (on the File menu, point to New and click
Office Document).
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the option to view message headers is turned off,
and you click "Send the document to someone" while creating the Office
document.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, turn on the Message Header option before
creating the new Office document. This is a "toggle" option; you either
turn it on or off depending on the current state. To turn on the Message
Headers option so you can edit the Office document, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, point to New and click Mail Message.
- In the new message, on the View menu, click Message Header.
- Close the message.
The Message Header option should now appear selected, to indicate that the
option is on.
MORE INFORMATION
The message header is the part of the mail message that includes the
Message and Option tabs, the Cc and Bcc address lines, and the Subject
line. In a normal mail message, the body of the message is visible and you
can type in it, even when the message header is turned off.
However, if you create a new Office document and click "Send the document
to someone," the body of the message will not be available if the message
header is turned off.
