Computer Hangs When Resuming with IntelliPoint 2.2 Software (191248)

SYMPTOMS

When you enable Advanced Power Management (APM) support on a computer running the Microsoft IntelliPoint software version 2.2, the computer may stop responding (hang) when it resumes from Suspend mode.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, disable APM on the computer. To disable APM, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click System.
  3. On the Device Manager tab, double-click System Devices.
  4. Double-click Advanced Power Management Support.
  5. On the Settings tab, click to clear the Enable Power Management Support check box.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed in the applies to section of this article.

On newer computers and selected older computers, APM may be included in the BIOS settings. The BIOS can be altered through the System CMOS settings.
