Plus! 98: Cannot Locate Pictures After You Install Picture It! (191062)

SYMPTOMS

When you install the retail version of Microsoft Picture It! after you install Microsoft Plus! 98, the pictures you created or imported in Picture It! Express do not appear in the My Pictures folder when you start the retail version of Picture It!, click Get Picture, and then click My Pictures.

If you click the My Pictures folder, you receive the following message:
No files of this type in the current folder.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Picture It! and Picture It! Express store pictures you create or import in different folders.

Picture It! Express stores pictures in the following folder

<drive>:\My Documents\My Pictures

where <drive> is the hard disk on which Windows is installed.

The retail version of Picture It! stores pictures in the following folder

<drive>:\My Pictures

where <drive> is the hard disk on which Windows is installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, configure Picture It! to search for pictures in the folder in which Picture It! Express stores pictures. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Get Picture, and then click My Picture.
  2. In the Click A Folder box, click the hard disk on which Windows is installed.
  3. Double-click the My Documents folder.
  4. Click the My Pictures folder.
NOTE: You must repeat these steps each time you start Picture It!

To prevent this issue from occurring, move the pictures you created or imported in Picture It! Express from the <drive>:\My Documents\My Pictures folder to the <drive>:\My Pictures folder, where <drive> is the letter of the hard disk on which Windows is installed.
