SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95, you may receive the following message when you attempt to synchronize a Palm-size PC (P/PC) with your desktop computer:
To synchronize channels you must be running MSIE 4.0 on your desktop computer. You can install IE 4.0 from optional components on the Desktop Software for Windows CE compact disc.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95 installation program changes the Plus! VersionNumber value data in the following registry key:

RESOLUTION

  2. Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop computer.
  3. Right-click the CD-ROM drive containing the Windows CE Services CD-ROM, and then click Explore.
  4. Double-click the Optional Components folder.

  6. Double-click the Ie4setup.exe file.
  7. Follow the instructions on the screen. If you are prompted to proceed with the installation, click Yes.
