OFF98: Graphics in Files Imported from Windows Are Wrong Color, Mapped Incorrectly (190823)

This article was previously published under Q190823 SYMPTOMS When you import a document from Windows into one of the
Office 98 Macintosh Edition programs listed at the beginning of this article,
you may notice the following problems with graphics:
- A 24-bit image is displayed as an 8-bit
image.
- Symbols in Windows OLE objects are converted
incorrectly.
- Accented characters in pasted pictures are converted
incorrectly.
- The pictures contain missing or broken lines or
details.
CAUSE This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
- You created the document in a Microsoft Windows version of
Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, or Microsoft Excel.
-and- - The document contains Enhanced Metafile (EMF) graphics or
Windows Metafile (WMF) graphics.
RESOLUTION An updated metafile filter is available that corrects these

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most
current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file
was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to
