OFF98: Graphics in Files Imported from Windows Are Wrong Color, Mapped Incorrectly (190823)

SYMPTOMS

When you import a document from Windows into one of the Office 98 Macintosh Edition programs listed at the beginning of this article, you may notice the following problems with graphics:
  • A 24-bit image is displayed as an 8-bit image.

  • Symbols in Windows OLE objects are converted incorrectly.

  • Accented characters in pasted pictures are converted incorrectly.

  • The pictures contain missing or broken lines or details.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • You created the document in a Microsoft Windows version of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, or Microsoft Excel.

    -and-
  • The document contains Enhanced Metafile (EMF) graphics or Windows Metafile (WMF) graphics.

RESOLUTION

An updated metafile filter is available that corrects these problems.
