After you add a new file to a source-controlled Web, the file is deleted.
-or-
After you check in a file, it is deleted.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the user selects the Remove Local Copy After Add or Check In check box in Microsoft Visual SourceSafe Options dialog box.
RESOLUTION
Two problems need to be resolved. First, to
prevent this from happening again, follow these steps:
- In the SourceSafe Explorer, open the database as the affected user.
- From Tools menu, select Options, and click the Local Files tab.
- Clear the Remove Local Copy After Add or Check In check box, and then click OK.
The second task is to restore your content. To do this, simply issue a
Recalculate Links command within Visual InterDev or Microsoft FrontPage. The latest content is retrieved from Visual SourceSafe and replaced into your Web.
NOTE: Because this setting is set for each individual database user, repeat the above steps for each user that has changed this
setting.
