WD98: Color Graphic May Be Printed in Black and White on Some Epson Stylus Color Printers (190723)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q190723 SYMPTOMS
Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition may print graphics from some Epson Stylus Color printers in black and white instead of in color.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the following are true:
- You are printing a single colored graphic per page.
- You are using an Epson Stylus Color printer driver.
- You are printing to an Epson Stylus Color series printer.
WORKAROUND
You can print the graphics in color if there is another colored object on
the same page. Either insert another colored graphic, or add several
characters to the page and apply color to them that is the same as the
background, usually white.
In some cases, it is necessary to use a color other than white, black, or a shade of gray. In these cases, the colored text can be positioned behind the graphic so that it is not visible.
If colored text is used as the workaround, the colored text must be above the anchor point for the graphic to be effective. Colored text below the anchor point does not resolve the problem in many scenarios.
