FP98: Long Thread Titles Have Spaces Added After Removing Post (190619)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FrontPage 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q190619 SYMPTOMS
If you delete an article from a discussion Web, any threads that have long
titles will have three tags appended to the HTML code for those titles.
CAUSE
FrontPage incorrectly adds the tags to the Tocproto.htm file in the discussion Web,
resulting in extra spaces being added to the titles. This behavior occurs if the number of characters
in the Subject field combined with the number of characters in the From field exceed twenty-six
characters.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, use form field validation to limit the total number of characters
in the Subject and From fields to twenty-six or less. For example, limit the Subject field to
twenty characters and the From field to six characters.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning
of this article.
