This article was previously published under Q190330

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Save As HTML command in PowerPoint 97, some information may be lost. Specifically, custom animation settings that specify embedded video and sounds are not retained. Also lost are PowerPoint 97 specific features, such as certain Animation effects, for example Swirl and Swivel. PowerPoint Animation effects will become static images when saved as HTML. In addition, objects on Notes pages are not exported to HTML format. Only the Notes text object is exported. Action settings that hyperlink to outside presentations or URLs may also be lost.

CAUSE

The Save As HTML command was not designed to export this type of information.
