OFF97: Cannot View Preview Picture on File Created on Macintosh (189124)

SYMPTOMS

When you click Preview in the Open dialog box, you may receive the following message:
Preview not available.
The preview picture that has been saved with the file is not displayed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when one of the following conditions is true:

  • You used a Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition program to create your file.

    -or-
  • You used a Microsoft Office 4.2.x for the Macintosh program to create your file.

WORKAROUND

To work around the problem, open and resave the file. A preview picture that is viewable in an Office 97 program will be saved in the file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
