Windows 98 Setup detects your Hayes Accura 56K+FAX External modem as a
Rockwell 333 DPF External PnP modem.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the Hayes Accura 56K+FAX External modem
contains an alternate identification string identifying it as a Rockwell
333 DPF External PnP modem. Since Windows 98 does not include a setup
information (.inf) file for a Hayes Accura 56K+FAX External modem, the
alternate identification string is used.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, contact Hayes Microcomputer Products to inquire
about the availability of an updated .inf file. Once you obtain the
updated .inf file, follow these steps to install your Hayes Accura 56K+FAX
External modem:
- Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click System.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Double-click the Modem branch, click Rockwell 333 DPF External PnP,
and then click Properties.
- On the Driver tab, click Update Driver, click Next, click "Search for a
better driver than the one your device is using now," and then click
Next.
- In the Specify A Location box, type the full path to the .inf file.
- Click Next, and then click Finish.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
