XL98: No Help on Link for Formatting Can't Be Converted to HTML (189002)

Some aspects of Microsoft Excel formatting cannot be converted to HTML. For more information, click >>.

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is not listed as a file format.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.

In Microsoft Excel Help, one of the topics is "Publish Microsoft Excel data on a Web." When you view that topic and click the link mentioned in the "Symptoms" section for more information, you cannot find the information.

To demonstrate this problem, follow these steps:

  1. In Microsoft Excel, click Contents And Index on the Help menu, click the Index button in Microsoft Excel Help, type the following text

    html

    and then click Show Topics. Select the "Publish Microsoft Excel data on a Web" topic, and click Go To.
  2. Under Notes, click the link after "Some aspects of Microsoft Excel formatting cannot be converted to HTML. For more information, click >>."
Notice that HTML is not listed as a file format.

This problem also occurs when you click Contents And Index on the Help menu, click the Index button in Microsoft Excel Help, and type the following text

file formats, HTML

and then click Show Topics. Select the "Publish Microsoft Excel data on a Web" topic, and click Go To.
