Using Two Modems Causes Name Resolution Problems (188998)

After you create a duplicate RAS phonebook entry for the same provider and
associate it with a second modem, the Proxy server is configured to use one
modem and the Exchange Internet Mail Service is configured to use the
other. When both the Proxy server and the Internet Mail Service attempt to dial at the same time, you receive a duplicate name error and both processes fail.
RESOLUTION
Use the same RAS phonebook entry for both the Proxy and Internet Mail Service. You can also use two different RAS phonebook entries with two different providers.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
