The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q188900 SYMPTOMS
When using Adobe Type Manager (ATM) with PowerPoint, characters may be
squeezed together or may appear with improper spacing.
CAUSE
This problem results from the way PowerPoint draws text and how ATM
renders screen fonts. PowerPoint cannot take advantage of the advanced
typography capabilities provided by ATM when using PostScript fonts. This
problem only occurs with PostScript fonts. TrueType fonts are not affected.
RESOLUTION- Disable the Adobe Type Manager control panel.
- Replace all PostScript fonts used in PowerPoint with their TrueType
equivalents. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Replace Fonts.
- In the Replace list, click the font you want to replace.
- In the With list, click the TrueType font you want to use.
- Click Replace.
Repeat steps b through d for each font you want to replace.
The text should now appear as expected.
Adobe Type Manager is manufactured by Adobe Systems, Inc., a vendor
