PPT98: Object Does Not Act as Hyperlink in Slide View (188844)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q188844 SYMPTOMS
If you apply a hyperlink to text or an object on a PowerPoint slide,
you cannot activate the hyperlink in Slide view by clicking or double-
clicking it.
NOTE: The path or Uniform Resource Locator (URL) appears correctly
if you hold the CONTROL key and click the object, point to Hyperlink,
and then click Edit Hyperlink.
CAUSE
You can activate a hyperlink in a PowerPoint presentation only by clicking
it when you view the presentation as a Slide Show.
If you click a drawing object in Slide view, you select the object. If you
double-click a drawing object while in Slide view, the Format Object dialog box
is supposed to appear. This behavior does not change simply because the object
has a hyperlink.
RESOLUTION
If you click View Show on the Slide Show menu, the mouse pointer
changes to a hand pointer when you move it over the object or text that has
the hyperlink. If you click while you see the hand, the hyperlink
activates.
To verify that a hyperlink works without viewing the presentation as a
Slide Show, follow these steps:
- In Slide view, select the object.
- Press CONTROL and click the object, point to Hyperlink, and then click
Open.
The hyperlink now activates.
